About This Spot
Stepping into Pilgreen's Steakhouse and Bar feels like entering a warmly lit gathering spot where the hum of conversation and the clink of glasses blend seamlessly with the comforting aroma of wood-fired steaks and rich, home-style cooking. Nestled just off Lake Dow Road in McDonough, this steakhouse carries the charm of a well-loved local favorite, its pace unhurried and inviting—perfect for an evening where good food and genuine company are the focus.
The atmosphere balances the rustic with an approachable ease, where classic American staples meet the familiarity of a neighborhood grill. Meals here unfold like a comforting story, where each dish carries a touch of tradition with a side of friendly anticipation. From the perfectly battered and golden onion rings that invite sharing to rich and hearty steaks served alongside comforting sides, the menu invites you to slow down and savor. Even the desserts evoke a sense of nostalgia, with offerings like the famously indulgent peanut butter pie that linger long after the last bite.
While the bar pours a selection of simple, sparkling mocktails and house wines to complement your plate, it’s the convivial mood that often draws people back—a place where birthdays, anniversaries, and casual weeknight dinners blend into moments worth marking. The ability to accommodate large gatherings with ease, along with genuine warmth and a welcoming vibe, turns each visit into a comfortable, familiar occasion.
In all, Pilgreen’s isn’t just about the food—it’s about the human moments shared around the table, the laughter, the stories, the relaxed smiles that make every visit quietly memorable.

The ambience made everything go so perfect, the service was impecable and food so good that I felt like having dinner with my family at home. Although, something out of this world, was their Famous peanut butter pie, that was from heaven. So delicious!

Ordered the 14 oz ribeye, cooked medium rate as ordered, but not as tender as I like. My friend ordered the Monterey Chicken and he said it was delish. Caesar salad was great! I forgot to take a photo of the fudge brownie with ice cream but it was scrumptious! Our server, Donna, was very attentive and friendly.

Great experience on a Thursday night for our wedding anniversary! Hadn’t been in 15+ years, very pleasantly surprised with food quality and gracious service! Chicken tenders were crispy on outside and tender on inside, fried mushrooms were delicious! Salad with their house dressing was great! Mashed potatoes a bit less done than I’d like. Ordered a side of collards and were very good! Hubby had T-bone and baked potato and he liked both. Our server was delightful. Our appetizer and meals came out timely:) We will return soon!

Fantastic experience. Went to Pilgreen’s late on a Saturday night. They were able to seat a large party and accommodate allergies on short notice. Our group of 11 kids and adults enjoyed great food and amazing service. Thanks for a wonderful evening! Looking forward to going back during the day to see the view!

Pilgreens has always been a special place in our neighborhood, and I want to start by acknowledging the previous owners. They were warm, friendly, and genuinely cared about their customers. You could tell they took great pride in what they built, and that foundation absolutely shows. With the new ownership, it’s exciting to see Pilgreens being refreshed and thoughtfully revived. The updates to the flooring, paint, and décor instantly make the space feel brighter and more inviting. The addition of draft beers, specialty cocktails, and even mocktails has been such a great touch—especially for families. My young son absolutely loved having a fun, non-alcoholic option just for him The new manager, Trish, deserves a special mention. She is incredibly warm and welcoming and truly sets the tone for the entire experience. One improvement we noticed right away was the salad. It’s noticeably fresher, and you can tell it’s no longer bagged. The addition of blue cheese crumbles was a really nice upgrade, and my husband’s blue cheese dressing made the salad genuinely enjoyable instead of just an afterthought. Our dinner on Saturday evening was honestly one of the best meals we’ve ever had there. Everything felt elevated while still staying true to what Pilgreens has always been. One small suggestion I’d love to see is offering the option of seasoned steaks alongside the traditional unseasoned ones. I understand many longtime customers prefer them unseasoned, and even without seasoning the steak was still very good—but having the choice would be a great addition. Overall, the fresh look, thoughtful updates, and welcoming atmosphere made for a much more enjoyable experience. It’s wonderful to see Pilgreens honoring its roots while confidently moving forward. We’re excited to keep coming back

We decided to meet our friend that works in the same building for dinner. The place is in very much need of a remake over as it is older, deco is old as well and your feet stick to the carpet (Not good). As for the Food, it was good and the service (Dionate) was great. Very polite and on point with bringing out the necessities.
